Inside A Google Data Center
Maybe it is just me, but it seems like policy must have suddenly shifted or something. A few years back, we had Google presenting at Linuxfest Northwest in Bellingham, WA and I was the guy brought on to do the filming for the event. Well, I was told clearly and in no uncertain terms that when images of the Google servers appeared in the data center pictures, I was NOT to film that part of the event. I did as I was asked.
The video, long since gone into obscurity as no one is really watching anything in .rm format anymore yet the events of the day are still fresh in my brain. Then I found this today.
To be honest, I am a bit miffed that NOW Google gives folks a shot into the inner workings, yet at the time video of IMAGES was forbidden! Seriously, what is the big deal. I mean, location, I get this. How it works, again, I understand the secrecy. But all I wanted was to get shots of the stupid IMAGES, not the real thing. Today, I am really peeved…but still found the video interesting nonetheless.
