I’m going to take a litte break from the tech-talk tonight, and focus my blog on Rosenborg BKs fantasic 2-0 match against Valencia, this because tonights result is a HUGE surprise for anyone who follows european football. Rosenborg have had a turbulent season so far. They only finnished 5th in the league, and they fired their headcoach, and the supporters have showed their frustration with the board for the past few weeks.

But on a night like this all that is forgotten. Steffen Iversen scores 2 goals and it seemed as if he ran further today then he did all the previous matches this season put together.

Per Ciljan Skjelbred, Alexander Banor Tettey and Marek Sapara ran circles the Valencia midfield yet again, and they had an amazing pass completion.

And in the back we have a defence that takes out some of the best strikers in the world, and a keeper that stopped whatever gets past the defence.

And on top of that our Ivorian trio shows off their skills in an impressive way.
Not only did they manage to win, they won in a comfortable way aswell it could’ve been both 3, 4 and 5-0. And they did it playing beautifull football.

At the moment I’m certain that RBK is going to be one of the top 3 teams in the group, but can they really manage to finnished 2nd and move on in the Champions League? And that from what seemed like the “group of death”?

After the group draws I would be happy if RBK took a point in this group, but this is simlpy amazing!

The guys over at Piratbyrän (Piratebay) are really on fire at the moment, and are getting involved in more and more big projects in the p2p-community. The past few months they have….

Helped getting Supernova back up on their feet.

Snatched up the IFPI.com address and are planing to start “International Federation of Pirates Interests” (on International Federation of the Phonographic Industry’s old address).

Working on getting OiNK back up after Interpool took them down.

Started law-suits against a group of media companies.

And in adition to this, they are also working on a new more open p2p-protocol. With the new protocol they’re hoping to make p2p even more effective by optimizing the use of the users upload bandwith. They also hope to increase the security for the user by (amongst other things) adding a “creator” to the file, that way you can know if the file is thrustworthy or not. This will help protect against both virus/spam-fakers and also against the industry-spies.

Another great new idea is to add sort of a “subscription” function to the files, that way you can automatically get new episodes of a show or a serie.

In other words we’re heading towards crucial times, and Piratbyrän and their allies (like Mininova) are really taking the fight to the industry.

How do you think this will end? Will the users force the industry to think new, and update their technologies to fitt the 21th century, or will they fail, go and bancrupt? Maybe something in the middle?

Read more about the protocol here.

Apple has received a lot of praise for its new OS, Leopard, since it was launched just a few days ago, I have yet to try it out, but the word on the Internet seems to be that Apple has done a lot of great improvements and taken its OS to the next level.

However, some security experts are concerned about the new firewall that’s been integrated.

The first, and perhaps biggest problem is that it turns itself off by default after installation; this might not be a problem for people who know what they’re doing, but for the man on the street, it is not a good thing. And as some of you might remember Microsoft got a lot of hassle over the same thing back when it launched Windows XP.

Another big problem is that “block all” really doesn’t block all. Security experts such as Jürgen Schmidt from Heise Security are also concerned by the fact that Apple is using older versions with known security-issues of both Samba and for ntpd.

So the question is: are these just slips from Apple, or has it not put as much thought into security as it should’ve done, and perhaps even used to? Is it walking in Microsoft’s old tracks and prioritizing usability and design over security? What do you think?

Well I’ve just downloaded the new Beta of Yahoo Messenger 9.0. And in addition to the upgrade to the UI, they have now integrated Flickr, something that makes it easy to share pictures with your friends, you can easily drag and drop a picture in the chat window and talk about the picture. And they can then save it either to their Flickr account or directly on their hard drive.

They have also integrated a mediaplayer that makes it possible to watch videos inside the program.

The fact that you can IM friends that use Live Messenger is also a nice thing, that way you can use Yahoo Messenger even tough your friends don’t want to make the move from Live Messenger.

It does seem like it might be a bit heavier for the computer to have it running tough. According to my Task Manager Live Messenger is currently occupying 4MB of memory and Yahoo is occupying 34MB when in tray..

Check it their brag-flick here:

And download the program here:

And don’t forget it’s still a Beta product, so it’s not something you should trust all your data to.

What do you think is best, Microsoft or Yahoo? Or perhaps you prefer the open-source program Miranda that supports a bunch of different IM-networks?

This weekend the word about the terabyte thumb drive reached me. I don’t know how old it really is, but that’s when I first read about the people at Arizona University. The thing that bothers me the most is the angle the media has on the technology. Why thumb drives? Personally I don’t care about the thumb drive. Sure, it’s nice to have the space, but what I find most interesting is the technology and the potential it has beyond the stupid little USB devices.

Think mobile phones, media players, and cameras. This will open up a whole other level when it comes to portable media; now we just need the fuel cells to go with it. It will also make it a lot easier, money and space-wise to have large file servers at home. Or having a 1TB PVR in your TV. So why do all the articles focus on something as useless and boring as a 1TB thumb drive? I can think of a bunch of places where this technology is more interesting then a stupid thumb drive.

[tags]mmorpg, gaming, Anarchy Online, friendship[/tags]

Well it all started back in March 2002, I got in contact with a girl online, and she soon started talking about Anarchy Online, and I decided to check it out, the next day I went to my game dealer, and picked up a copy, got back home installed, patched, opened an account and started the game.

When I started the game, I didn’t know anyone in it. I knew what server the girl was on, but I had no idea what her nick was, so I decided to just start out on my own. And after just 15 minutes I had met new 3 people , and we stuck together for the next couple of days, running around in the starting area whacking mobs. The game wasn’t the best and it did have alot of bugs, but we didn’t care because we had so much fun. The chat-system made it easy to stay in touch, and it also made it easy to get to know new people, and it seemed like people really care. We told each other about who we were and what we did, we encouraged eachother when we had it tough, and were happy for each other when times were good.
Now more then 5 years later we’re still in the same clan, and other people that I met in my early days are also keeping in touch, while in other mmorgps I’ve tried (WoW, Neocron, Vanguard, Star Wars and so on) I have barely gotten to know any people at all, sure I’ve joined some guilds, but for some reason I have yet to develop any of the same relationships as in Anarchy Online. I might just have been unlucky in the other games, but it seems to me that people there are alot more selfcentered.

The reason why I love Anarchy Online is the people and the comunity, it’s unlike anything I’ve experienced, and I really do love it. I’ll always come back for the people….
