Okami is an action-adventure game that was one of the last games that Clover Studios made before they got closed down. The Wii version was made by Ready at Dawn which is the studio that made the PSP games Daxter and God of War: Chain of Olympus.
Okami has you controlling the goddess of the sun Okami Amaterasu in a wolf form that has to help out the country of Nippon from an evil demon called Orochi that was released from his seal and once again he’s bringing terror to the country of Nippon. Along the way Amaterasu meets up with a really small artist called Issun who’s an inch high in height and he helps Ammy (the name Issun calls Amaterasu) to search for her lost power which are in the form of brush techniques. After collecting all the brush techniques and getting help from people along the way as well as people believing in Ammy (which gives her power) she goes and fights Orochi to restore peace to Nippon.

As you can see from the picture, Okami has a unique look and the game is in cell shaded form so it can keep the same kind of art style. The art style is from styles that were used a long time ago in Japan. The game is played just like a Legend of Zelda game where you would be collecting items and other things so you can power up and advance in the game. There is one new thing that this game introduces and that is the ability to draw (on the Wii version actually using the Wii Remote to draw) the brush techniques. The brush techniques help you out from fighting an enemy, to bring out the sun, or to use the wind so you move when you’re on a boat. There’s a whole bunch of brush techniques that help you out and some look really cool when you use them.
I liked Okami - it made me feel like I was playing a Legend of Zelda title with enough of its own unique features to make it original. I did play this game on the Wii, so I was able to enjoy the extra features - like being able to draw the brush techniques. Sometimes it took a while to pull off, but it wasn’t impossible. I loved the art in the game and all the different characters that you meet, which made the game funny at times. This is a great game to pick up for a fan of the Legend of Zelda series or adventure game fans for either the PS2 or Wii but the Wii version has the extra stuff so that will be up to you.

Okami is a game i have been dying to play for a while. It looks great and the fact that it has been compared to Zelda is even more of an incentive to play. Once i finish up “Metal Gear: The Essential Collection”, Gears of War 2, Prince of Persia, And Tales of Symphonia i will dive into Okami. Cant wait! (^_^)
