Gears of War 2 Review

Gears of War 2 is a third person shooter that takes places after the first game. We continue off with Marcus and Dom again as they’re still trying to take down the Locust. This time around Dom is trying really hard to find out what happened to his wife as he is taking down the Locust. Also this time around the Gears have a bunch of backup and someone that helps them out by radio.

This game has new types of Locust that they have to fight but they have some new equipment and vehicles they can use to fight them with. They also get to ride some of the enemy’s giant Locust that they use as vehicles. The chainsaw kills have been changed so you get to fight in a duel to determine who wins if both of you start a chainsaw attack at the same time instead of leaving it up to chance.

Some new abilities have been added to this version like being able to plant a grenade to the wall so if an enemy walks by the grenade it will blow up. Also if an enemy is about to die you can pick him up and use him as a shield to protect you against enemies. The sound and graphics are great in this version just like the first one and the detail in the characters and surrounding have been improved.

Multiplayer has new maps and modes which are great and also if you bought the game brand new it comes with a code so you can play in the old maps from the first game, which is really nice that they added for free. A new mode was added for this game, and it’s called Horde, where you and four other players go up against a wave of enemies that gets harder the more you defeat. This game is really great to play with friends to see how high you can get.

This sequel was really good due to some of the new weapons that they added to this game, all of the extra things you can do and of course the new modes. The campaign mode is just like the old one but you gotta love the new things that they added, like being able to fight for who wins a chainsaw duel or how there are more characters in the game that help you out so you can fight off the Locust.

There were things that I hated in the campaign mode like whenever you’re hearing a message from the radio your character slows down to listen to the message and they really didn’t need to do that. Multiplayer matches sometimes take a while to start up, and also the final battle in the game seemed kinda easy compared to the last one, but other than that the game was really great.

The new Horde mode was really fun to play with friends and of course multiplayer mode is still fun like the first game. This game is really great; if you loved the first one, you will love this one too.
