PS3 and PSP Firmware Updates

Last week both the PlayStation 3 and the PlayStation Portable got their firmware updated. The PSP firmware update 5.0 was to add the PlayStation Store to the PSP, so now if you want to get a demo, you will be able to get it right from your PSP - you will just have to sign up for a PlayStation Network ID if you don’t already don’t have one. Anyone with a PS3 ID can use it on their PSP as well.

This is a great update for anyone who doesn’t have a PS3 to get the demos or anyone who doesn’t have a Windows PC (the PC PlayStation Store previously only worked for Windows). The Web site still works and you can still get demos from the PS3 PlayStation Store if you want to.

The PS3 firmware update 2.5 added support for the new official PS3 Bluetooth headset so that it will sound even better, especially with the included game SOCOM (incidentally, though, you can buy the bluetooth headset by itself if you don’t like SOCOM).

The firmware also updated the Trophies system to make it easier to compare trophies with your friends and show how far along your level is. The Friends system has been updated and now allows you to see when your friends were last on (as with Xbox Live). Updated Video playback options, the PlayStation Network’s code redemption system is also now on the main page of the Playstation Store, power saving settings, the option to turn off your PS3 after a download has finished, and the ability to take in-game screen shots (if the game allows it) have also been updated.

Among the excellent PS3 updates, the one that will make some people happiest is the Flash update to the Web browser on the PS3 that will allow you to be able to watch videos from other sites. Now you can get some games on your PSP without any problems and you can now do a lot more with your PS3. If you haven’t downloaded the firmware yet, you should. did it also fix half life 2 episode 2 frame rates pls as some people state ?

usually if a game has problems the developer would do a patch and send it out to fix the problems but since the PS3 version of the Orange Box wasn’t made by Valve it may not get support as the other version do that would be up to EA to fix.
