Yep finally finished up Metal Gear Solid 2 after having played Metal Gear Solid I’m really starting to like this series and the second game really made me like the series even more, kinda makes me want to see how the series changes when i start to play 4 the new one in the series that just came out. Now as for the second game you play as Snake of course the main character in the Metal Gear Series and Raiden a new character for this game. For the first part of the game you will play as Snake from the first game and you will be getting support from his friend Otokon also from the first game but this time there doing this themselves. The controls have changed a little due to this game being on the PS2 instead of the PS1 like the last one. A lot of new new things you gotta do in this game some help you out and some you have to do to get information. Now after you do the Snake part in the game your are left with another character and he takes over as the character you control, his name is Raiden. Now with Raiden there are a lot of weird parts when you are playing as him for example like in the first game the whole things started acting weird, yea this game does that too, really weird things like for example you think you got a game over when you really didn’t really can confuse you to get a real one if your not careful. Also you might be wondering where did Snake go? Well he’s still around, he helps Raiden out but under another name since he was to find out information that he needs to know without anyone knowing that he’s really Snake but then later Raiden figures out who Snake is and then start helping each other out fighting off enemies near the end of the game. Raiden also gets a sword near the end of the game which is really cool but kinda hard to control the first time around but you will get use to it. This game is great as the first one it really makes me want to keep going in the games but knowing that Metal Gear Solid 3 is a prequel to the series maybe I will have to wait til 4 to see what happens after 2 well on to playing 3 now.

I would only rate MGS4 an 8.0 out of 10. I think all the high ratings are too forgiving of many minor faults. The actual play time for MGS4 is pretty short but usually enjoyable. I am trying to get through the easiest level really fast and expect to make it in about 4hr 20min. My best time for Big Boss Hard with no kills is 7hr 12min.
The graphics are beautiful though in HD. It almost seems like they imagined it as a series of five episode anime movies with an hour of playing interspersed through each episode. I fell asleep during the 4th chapter and woke up staring at [possible spoiler].
Transitions between running and climbing are a little slow at times though. If you run up to a ladder, you have to pause for a half second and wait for the prompt to display before you can start climbing. I mean the PS3 is supposed to be nearly a supercomputer, why is play so jerky?
It would be a lot better playing through multiple times if they let players automatically skip the all the extended cut scenes. There are about 20 cut scenes that can not be skipped. I guess they could not resist beating users over the head about how much time they spent on making the graphics look good. Sorry, I ended up making a short story too long.
I have not played the earlier games but might try 2 and 3 if the local reseller has them for a decent price.
