My Brother’s iPhone 3G Problems

When the new iPhone 3G was launched I posted about how my brother got one and how we waited outside an AT&T store so he could finally get his hands on one. If you want to read about that time click here. Now from that point my brother had gone through four different iPhones. The first one that he got at launch was buggy and really lagged when closing and opening up a program so he went to return it at the AT&T store and paid the restocking fee. For his second iPhone he decide to go get it at the Apple Store so he knew that it was straight from Apple so he did, he picked one up from there but then this one as well started to give him problems after a few days. He found a dead pixel on the screen and sometimes when trying to unlock the phone the slide function wouldn’t work so back to the Apple Store to return it. So he went back to get another iPhone and this one wasn’t bad until it started to drop calls and when in a 3G network area it wouldn’t show 3G it would show EDGE like many other people around the world were having problems like it, so he went back once again to the Apple Store to get it exchanged and they did so he got yet another one. Now again he went to get it exchanged and the iPhone was just fine until my brother want it to sync up with his computer and try to get some apps for some weird reason it had a email address already attached to the iPhone. So my brother decided to call Apple OneCare to see why was it doing that and he found out from them that it was a used iPhone even called up the Apple Store to tell them how did that happened and they made up a to many weird excuses. So the person said to my brother that he could go back to the same store and get it exchanged once again but my brother decided to go to another store because he didn’t trust that one anymore so they allowed him to get it exchanged at another Apple Store.

Now the Apple Stores are far away from where my brother lives; it takes like a hour and a half to get to the one that he first went to and 45 minutes for the other one so that’s why it was a real problem for him, he had to drive out whenever he has a problem with his phone. So now my brother got his new iPhone, 5th one since launch let’s see if this one doesn’t come out with any problems as the last ones. Also recently my brother told me he called AT&T to talk about his account and he also learned from a the rep he was talking to that the 3G network problem was a problem with both AT&T and Apple so he said that there both trying to figure something out. So if you want to go pick up a new iPhone make sure it’s not a used one by making sure after they activate it to check out the Apps store and check at the bottom if it’s not linked to a email address already, make sure the phone can make and receive calls, and also to see if no one has used it you can check the call times by going to the settings.
