On Saturday, Feb. 9, 2008, Capcom’s Devil May Cry 4 demo on the Xbox LIVE service passed its one millionth download, and it is still counting and going! DMC4’s demo was uploaded to the network and started being available for download on January 24th, and had over 25,000 downloads a day since then. According to Microsoft, not only this game is the first demo of the year to reach this number of downloads, but also one of the fastest games to hit the mark.

And that’s not the only news related to Devil May Cry 4. According to Capcom, today, the game shipped over two million units worldwide, since its release for PS3 and 360. The PC version is yet to be released in the upcoming months.

Devil May Cry 4 is doing pretty well, I’m pretty sure the sales number will just keep going up and up. Since I haven’t been able to play it (because I haven’t got any of the consoles it’s available for), the ones that have, how good is the game? Is it better than its predecesors?

Japan always gets the best special edition products, titles, promotions and first release dates. Yet, looks like this time it’s not going to happen. According to CVG, Mari Kart Wii will be released in Europe first, on April 11th. There have not yet been any announcements for America or Japan yet.

The game will feature its own Wii Channel where you’ll be able to check out your and your friends records, as well as ghost data. Mario Kart Wii will include the Wii Wheel, and you’ll be able to use this wheel, the classic or GameCube controller, the Wii Remote, the Wii Remote and Nunchuck to drive. And that’s not it, the game (besides featuring classic and new stages) will have an online multiplayer mode, which will be carried out via Nintendo’s Wi-Fi connection.

So far, Mario Kart Wii sounds and looks very promising. Hopefully we’ll get dates for America and Japan soon.

Although Sonic was used as an April fool’s day joke on EGM some years ago, it was until October 10th when Nintendo officially announced that the blue hedgehehog would be joining the new Smash Bros title for the Wii.

This isn’t much of a surprise for me. It was obvious that Sonic was going to be in the new list of characters for Brawl. Now the thing is, what other characters from the Sonic series are making their appearance?

My bets are on Tails and Dr. Eggman. Why Tails? Because he’s like Zero for MegaMan, and he just couldn’t be left out. After all, Tails has been sticking with Sonic for a long time. Why Eggman? I think that’s too obvious. If Mario has Bowser on the Game, and Samus has Ridley on it too, Sonic pretty much deserves Eggman as his enemy.

We were all waiting for it. We were all excited about it. We were all getting ready for it. We all got our Wii. We were all dying to play as Snake in Smash Bros Brawl.

Originally, Smash Bros Brawl had its release date set for December the third, which was great time for a lot of people. We would be able to spend a really action-packed and punch-filled Christmas with all our family, not only using Nintendo’s characters, but other companies’ characters as well.

Unfortunately, during Nintendo’s E3 Press Conference, the company announced that the release of the long-awaited game would be postponed to February ‘08 for the Americas, and to January ‘08 for Japan.

This is indeed quite disappointing. As I said before, we were more than ready and hyped-up to play this long-awaited title. Some of my friends were even counting the days left for December the third… But considering the way Nintendo works, when they postpone a game’s release date, it is usually for the good. Let’s hope it is indeed this way, and that after February 10th, we get even more than we expected from Nintendo’s best fighting game.

VMware and Parallels for Virtual Machines

It doesn't matter if you're running on Windows or Mac OS X - every power user needs either Parallels or VMware (or both). There's never been an easier way to test software without destroying your primary operating system's stability. Think of how many times you wish you could press a 'reverse' button on your computer. Plus, there's no easier way to try new Linux distributions - see what all the fuss is about. Run Windows in OS X, run Linux in Windows, but the best way to do either is with VMware and/or Parallels.
