I myself am an iPod Touch owner and have enjoyed it ever since the day I purchased it. It’s an amazing device that probably should not even share the iPod name due to it’s great integration of several different features. The Touch’s extensive features and soon to be released SDK will bring even more integration to the unit and will undoubtedly take it out of the “MP3 player” class and nudge it into the PDA market. The iPod Touch is by far the best PDA I have ever had the pleasure of using. It’s more intuitive than any Palm OS or Windows Mobile device on the market. It’s strongARM processor makes it quick and nimble as well as easy on battery life.
You may be thinking that all this is much like the iPhone that has already taken the smart-phone market by storm but the iPod Touch has a whole different market segment to conquer. This market segment is one that includes people that may not want a smart-phone or possibly would like an media player with something more. I was in the market for a PDA until I researched the Touch a bit more thoroughly and discovered that it would be able to fit all my PDA needs along with carrying the videos and music that a regular PDA would not be able to accommodate.
To compare the iPod Touch to other mp3 players/media players out on the market is unfair to not only the iPod but to the other mp3 players out there. There are other very capable mp3 players on the market and very competitive PVPs out there to compete with the Touch but none of them can do triple duty as an mp3 player, video player and PDA without a monthly service charge.
If you’re in the market for a PDA I highly recommend you consider looking into the iPod Touch. Regardless of whether you own a Mac or PC, the touch works well. Linux support is not quite there yet, but I’m sure it will be eventually. The touch is easy to use and very straight forward. Syncing your contacts, calendars along with your music and videos is seamless on both a Mac or Windows based PC. The touch provides not only carries it’s weight well as a PDA but is a wonderful music and video player. Oh..let’s not forget with WiMAX coming into cities now, it might even become more capable as time moves on.

You’re right- it’s not an iPod, it’s a chunk of heaven. I got the 8gb in March and love it just as much, if not more, than when I first got it. It’s definetely my most prized posession, and I literally DREAM of the App Store coming out. By the way, I’m typing this with my iPod Touch right now! Best thing ever…
