Word – Create and Print Labels

There are two types of labels that you can create in Word. Labels containing the same address which is useful for return address labels and labels containing different addresses which are useful for business mail. In this tip you’ll learn how to create and print a page of labels with the same address on each label.

Creating and printing labels is a multi-step process. First you need to create and format the labels and then you need to print the labels. The exact steps for creating, formatting and printing labels in Word 2007 are described below.

  1. Open Word and click Mailings on the Ribbon.
  2. Within the Create group, click Labels.

  4. The Envelopes and Labels window appears. Verify that the Labels tab is selected.
  5. Under Print, select the Full page of the same label option.

  7. Click the Options button at the bottom of the Envelopes and Labels window. The Label Options window appears. From the Product number list, choose your label’s product number. You can usually find the information on the Label package. Click OK.

  9. From the Labels window, type in the appropriate address in the Address field.

  11. To change font properties, highlight the address, right-click, and click Font. Make your formatting changes, and click OK.
  12. From the Labels window, click the New Document button. A Word document appears containing the labels.
  13. Now you’re ready to print the labels. Load your label paper into the printer. Click the Microsoft Office button and click the Print option.
