Once you install Windows 7, you’ll notice nine desktop gadgets. These gadgets are mini-programs that provide information at a glance and quick access to other tools. In addition to the nine gadgets, you can install additional gadgets from the Microsoft gallery page.
Personally, I don’t use any of the gadgets. In fact, I find it more of a nuisance just having them on the desktop. Fortunately, it’s simple to get rid of them!
To disable desktop gadgets in Windows 7:
- Click Start and then click Control Panel.
- Within the Control Panel, click Programs and Features.
- Click the Turn Windows features on or off link within the left sidebar. The Windows Features window appears.
- Remove the check beside the Windows Gadget Platform option.
- Click OK.
