Highlighting is a great way to call attention to specific text in Word and it looks great on-screen. However, printed, it’s a different story. Highlights don’t print well and therefore, lose their effectiveness. So, if you need to print a document that contains highlighted text, you can temporarily hide the highlights without having to remove them.
To accomplish this in Word 2010:
- Within Word, click the File tab.
- Click Options under Help.
- Click Display.
- Clear the Show Lighter Marks in the Page Display Options section.
- Click OK.
Word hides any highlighted text both on-screen and in any printouts.
