The purpose of the Temporary Internet Files folder is to speed up Internet browsing. By default Internet Explorer stores a user’s temporary internet files within a user profile typically located under C:Users or C:Documents and Settings. This folder can consume a significant amount of disk space so at some point you may want to move it to a drive with more space.
To move the Temporary Internet Files folder in Internet Explorer 8:
- Open Internet Explorer.
- Click Internet Options from the Tools menu.
- On the General tab, click the Settings button
- Click Move Folder.
- Select the new drive and folder and click OK.
