Turn Off Smart Window Arrangement In Windows 7

Windows 7 includes a new feature called Smart Window Arrangement that lets you minimize and maximize a window by dragging it up and down. For example, to minimize a window, simply drag it down. If you find that you never use this feature, you can disable it through the Windows registry as described below.

  1. Click the Start button.
  2. Type Regedit and press Enter.
  3. Within the Registry Editor, navigate to HKEY_CURRENT_USER Control Panel Desktop.
  4. Set the WindowsArrangementActive value to 0.
  5. Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.
