Used to use dating/matchmaking sites. This scam got so bad that I would first put in my profile that anyone outside of the US/Canada/Western Europe would be reported and not answered. Eventually after the scam artists being unable/unwilling to read my warnings…I would close out my account.

You may ask how you know you’re looking at a fake/scam account? Take a look at where they say they are from and how they write. Many will put in their account that they are from the US/Canda/Western Europe…but their use of written English would be on the level of or less than a third grade US student. Even using Google to translate would give you a better result.

If you’re wanting to date someone from Africa/Russia/any third world country…that is your business…but make sure you do your research. Watch TV shows of couples who have dated/married someone from that place. Read as much as you can from people who have had success and especially failure. I have even known someone personally who did this and they are still married.

Maybe the best advice I’ve ever heard…if you’re thinking of dating someone from a foreign land…look in the mirror first. That may be where your issues lie if you believe your dating problems will be solved by having a foreign spouse.

When I first got on to My Space I was inundated with scammers. Every one of them, and the photos were always of beautiful women, told me that they thought I was handsome and interesting. They all had the same M.O. After a while I began responding to them; telling them to quit trying to scam people and go out and find a real job. One thing I told them was that they have access to the world and could set up a legitimate Internet business that has the possibility of bringing in a lot of money instead a little here and a little there as scamming does. I even had one person write back and tell me that he was going out to find a job and get out of scamming.
