Search Everything On Your Computer In Windows 7

Posted by on Mar 18, 2010 | One Comment

Windows 7 lets you search all file types, including unknown ones. Although not recommended because it significantly slows down the search, there may be instances where you need to search unknown file types when you cannot find what you are looking for.

By default, Windows 7 is not set up to search unknown file types. You can configure Windows 7 to do so through Windows Explorer, as described below.

  1. Open Windows Explorer.
  2. From the Tools menu, click Folder Options.
  3. Click the View tab and check “Try to search the content of unknown file types.”

Remember, once you complete your search turn this feature off again so as not to slow down future searches.

I live a way up here in Saskatchewan,Canada. An interesting tip on the new Windows 7 HomePremium I just got on my new laptop although my desktop still runs good old XP. BUT that is not what I am asking about..I seem to remember reading some other stuff of your a year or two (or three ) and if I recall, you are deaf???????????

I am very hard of hearing as was my Dad and most of his brothers and sisters. All were born in the US and the two girls lived to 99 but by then could hardly hear anything even with their hearing aids.

Hope to read more tips from you somewhere
