Create A Multi-Level List In Word 2007

Posted by on Dec 7, 2009 | No Comments

A multi-level list lets you show list items at different levels in your Microsoft Word document as opposed to only a single level. For example, if your Word document contains a list starting at 1, 2, 3, etc., you can have sub-items appear under each top level list number as 1.1, 1.2, 2.1, 2.2, and so on. This multi-level list function is helpful for creating outlines in your Microsoft Word document or adding subsections to a main point in your document.

One of the ways that you can create a multi-level list is use an existing multi-level list from the gallery. To do so in Word 2007:

  1. Within your Word document, place the cursor where you want to begin your list.
  2. From the Home tab, within the Paragraph group, click the arrow beside Multilevel list.
  3. Select one of the list styles from the gallery.
  4. Type in your list. To change levels, simply press the Tab key.
