Displaying slide numbers in PowerPoint presentations is very important these days. Lecturers at conferences used to provide printed copies of their slides on which you could scribble your own notes. Now, they only provide you with their slides after the show, accessible from their websites. You can only relate your own notes to these slides if they carry slide numbers.
