Timetonote

If you’re involved in a business, then you’re almost definitely talking to people on a continual basis. For a lot of people, their job description means that they can basically talk on the phone with or send e-mails to a variety of people for the entire day, but communicating with them is just the beginning of what needs to be done. Whether you’re talking to customers, vendors, or anyone else for that matter, it’s important to record the details so that at any moment you or anyone else in your company can see the history of your communication with them. CRM (customer relationship management) software is ideal for this, and Timetonote puts the power of CRM in your hands.

If you’re not currently using some sort of CRM solution, then you know how crazy things can get when you’re trying to track down details in multiple e-mail messages, etc. The truth of the matter is that you will save time if you use Timetonote. When your entire team is involved, you can see recent history, find out who has talked to who, discover what was said, see upcoming tasks, and so on. Since Timetonote is totally free and the developers promise that this will continue to be true forever, you really have no excuse to not try managing information in this way.

This all sounds great on paper (or screen, as the case may be) but how can I know that the information I enter — such as phone numbers, company addresses, etc. — isn’t used for marketing purposes?

On the Timetonote Privacy Policy at https://timetonote.appspot.com/privacy.html it states the following under “Information Gathering and Usage”:

* When you register for Timetonote we ask for information such as your name, company name, email address.

* Timetonote uses collected information for the following general purposes: products and services provision, identification and authentication, services improvement, contact, and research.

The second bullet is the one that concerns me, since nowhere does it state that it only relates to the first bullet. (Is it only my information that will be shared or my customers’ as well?)

I don’t know…this service seems too iffy for me to use.

Sorry if the Timetonote privacy policy is not clear enough. Let me try and clarify that:
- All your data will remain inside Timetonote and will never be shared with anyone.
- Your contacts will NOT be contacted by Timetonote. You, the user (only the users), might receive an email notification for a new feature for example, or a newsletter, but this you will be able to turn off using a check box.

There is nothing to worry about. Anyway, I’ll update the privacy policy to be more clear on these issues.

@Lucian: Thanks so much for the clarification. It’s great that you posted a comment here.

I’ll try your service and let you know how it goes.
