Place A Recycle Bin On The Windows 7 Taskbar

By default, the only icon on the Windows 7 desktop (and Windows Vista) when the operating system is first installed is the Recycle Bin. If you prefer to keep your desktop free of all clutter and icons, you can place a Recycle Bin on the taskbar instead and remove the icon on your desktop.

To do so, you need to restore the Quick Launch toolbar. Right click on the Windows 7 taskbar, point to Toolbars and click New toolbar. Type in the following when prompted for a folder directory: %userprofile%\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch. The Quick Launch toolbar appears beside the clock. You can delete the shortcut icons that appear if you only want to Recycle Bin to appear on the Quick Launch toolbar. Next, select the Recycle Bin icon on the desktop and drag and drop it onto the Quick Launch bar. You can the delete the Recycle Bin icon on your desktop.
