Have you ever wanted to monitor your house or office while you’re away? For most of us, this probably wouldn’t be very advantageous because we’d probably see a whole lot of nothing, however, if you want to monitor something in particular (like a pet or security), then it can make sense. There are a variety of standalone security systems that can be used, but options also exist for people that just want to use their computer and webcam to get the job done. HighlightCam offers both a free and paid service to give you an extra pair of eyes.
Of course, when you’re recording hours and hours of video, you don’t want to have to watch all of it but instead you really just want to see any highlights. What’s nice about HighlightCam is that it finds the interesting parts of the video and presents short clips for you to review so you don’t have to waste your time. Since the service is based online, you can access your videos from anywhere, and e-mail alerts can be sent to you when motion is detected. If that’s not peace of mind, I don’t know what is.

It’s a nice service. I use my own professional security cameras to monitor my house while I’m away. My system even lets me watch them via the web. It has several different recording options such as schedule, motion activated, and regular recording.
