Disable Security Alerts In Windows 7

Windows 7, like its predecessor, displays visible alerts when it thinks your computer is at risk. For example, if your firewall settings are incorrect, Windows 7 displays a pop-up alerting you to the potential security risk.

If you find certain alerts annoying, you can turn them off on an individual basis, as described below.

  1. Open the Control Panel.
  2. Click System and Security.
  3. Click Action Centre.
  4. Click the Change Action Centre settings option.
  5. Select the areas for which you want to turn off security alerts. For example, select Network firewall to prevent Windows from sending pop-ups regarding firewall settings.
  6. Click OK.
