Knowledge. The guys (and gals) that are in this business obviously know a trick that the owner of the data does not. I use Carbonite, but there are other good ones out there. I have drive images and continuous backups happening to an exterior drive, but for sixty bucks a year the online backup is fantastic. (Hurricanes and fires happen.) I could drive to California and buy a new computer and be back up and running within 24 hours. Not the only way to go, but cheap insurance. I disagree on the difficulty of logical recovery- I find that 80-90% is reclaimed & I don't just sit & watch the process either. Get it running & peek in on it every so often. I have likewise swapped circuit boards on dead drives and reclaimed that way. It's true that 2 data backups are critical- but for the times it just isn't there, it's good to know that making a recovery disc isn't rocket science (with Barts/UBCD & a recovery program plug-in).
