Screenjelly

Have you ever had to try and explain something on your computer screen or walk someone through a certain procedure on the computer with only your voice or text? If you’ve been in that situation, then you know how frustrating it can be. No matter how hard you try, some things just need to be seen to be understood. The reason that a lot of us communicate by phone or text through e-mail or IM is because it’s easy to do, and a lot of people are still stuck thinking that video is a hard thing to create and share online. Screenjelly proves that this doesn’t have to be the case.

This service is all about recording what’s on your screen, and to do that you don’t have to download anything at all. Instead, you just have to click a big red button in your browser. Sound simple enough? It is. You can also include audio through a microphone so that you can narrate what’s taking place. Once the video is recorded (three minute maximum), you can share it through Twitter, e-mail, and other social networks. You’re going to want to remember this tool.

I prefer using ScreenToaster http://www.screentoaster.com/. Not only does it not have a 3-minute limit, but you can also record from a VNC server or your webcam, and you can choose the area to record. It also allows you to download an .mpg file and upload your recording to YouTube in HD.
