When you install a new program in Windows 7, the name of the program on the Start menu is highlighted in a different color. Some people might like this feature, more so those who are new to the computing world. However, if you are more of an advanced user, you might find this more of an annoyance.
You can easily disable this feature using the steps described below:
- Right click an empty area of the taskbar and click Properties.
- Click the Start Menu tab.
- Click the Customize button.
- Uncheck the Highlight newly installed programs option.
- Click OK.
