It’s amazing to see how things that used to be complicated are now easy thanks to the Internet. There are so many examples of this, but one in particular that I have some experience with involves recording screencasts. If you’ve ever done this before, then you know that it’s not always easy. Recently some simplified desktop software has been made available that has been a big help, but for a long time, recording a screencast meant getting some expensive software, reading pages and pages of help materials to figure out how to use it, and then spending hours of your life to record and export a basic screencast. Thanks to an online service called ScreenCastle, all of those complications are history.
ScreenCastle represents part of what I love about the Internet so much. It may not be able to do everything that the expansive screencast software packages can do, but you can use it online without downloading anything and it’s free. With this service, recording a screencast is as simple as clicking a button, deciding which portion of the screen you want to record, and then going for it. An option also exists to record audio so that you can narrate the screencast, and when you’re done, you can preview your work before you save it. Once saved, ScreenCastle gives you a bunch of different options for sharing the final product. It’s so easy that you’ll probably start finding excuses to create screencasts.
