If you’re like me, then your e-mail address is probably everywhere online. I use it for everything, and it’s on too many sites for me to even begin to count. For the type of work that I do, it’s essential to be visible online, so it’s a good thing that a lot of people have access to my e-mail address, but at the same time, I’m also a prime candidate for receiving spam. We all deal with spam to varying degrees, but whenever you post your e-mail address in a public place, you’re really inviting the spammers to come after you. The next time that you need to share your e-mail address online, consider using scr.im.
By entering your e-mail address and choosing a simple and customized URL, a link will be created that can be shared with others in public online. When people visit the link, they’ll have to answer a simple test correctly in order for your e-mail address to be revealed. Human spammers who are after your contact information will still be able to access your e-mail address, but at least you’ll protect yourself from all of the automated data collectors.

As soon as I logged on to the website “scr.im” my MacAfee virus scanner picked up and removed a Trojan horse. I believe I would steer clear of that web site.
Just a heads up.

My apologies for the above comment. Please disregard. Immediate after my comment I found that an update for Adobe Reader had just been downloaded. The Trojan was obviously a false positive for a portion of the Adobe update. The alert from MacAfee even mentioned “pdf”.
Sorry, I was just trying to be a “good citizen”.

Great site Brandon! I recently posted my contact email address on a website and have gotten 3 spams, 3 days in a row when before I got none. Mah-velous site & idea!
