Interesting Sites I Recommend For The Community

Hey Chris,

Just a few cool Web sites I recommend for the community:

KnowEm checks the availability of your brand name, user name, or vanity URL on 120 popular social media Web sites. This is helpful if you’re interested in retaining the same user name at sites you haven’t yet signed up for, or if you’re on the verge of launching a new site or service and want to lock down that brand name before someone else does.

namechk is similar to the above site. Check to see if your desired username or vanity URL is still available at dozens of popular social networking and social bookmarking Web sites. Promote your brand consistently by registering a username that is still available on the majority of the most popular sites. What’s really impressive about this service is the speed. In a few sample searches, it averaged about eight seconds from start to finish. And you don’t even have to wait to see all the results because they stream in as it does its business.

Tunatic is a free program for both Windows and Mac OS X that allows you to identify any song by just simply holding your microphone to your speakers. Tunatic then gives you the name and the artist of the song. Especially useful if you hear a song online but there isn’t any name mentioned.

EvaPhone allows you to make free VoIP calls to any phone (landline and mobile) internationally. No charges, though it limits you to three calls per day, and only a specific amount of talking time if you are not registered. Talking time varies from country to country.

Stick Sports has a vast assortment of amazingly addictive stick sports games. Play tennis, cricket, baseball, etc. with stick men! Good graphics, and online gaming, so no download required.

Multiply makes it easy to create, share, and discuss your blog, photos, and videos with more of the people you know, and fewer of the people you don’t.

Vringo sends video ringtones on the site to your phone with a simple text message. The download link is provided in the SMS received, so you just use your mobile Internet to download the ringtone!

vozMe is an in-browser text-to-speech creator that lets you capture the result as an mp3 download. Drag a bookmarklet into the bookmarks bar; then, on any page, simply highlight any text, and click on the bookmarklet. vozMe translates this text into speech and reads out all the text you highlighted. Useful if you’re too lazy to read a Wikipedia page or an email.
