Find Out What Version Of Vista Is Installed

If you are unsure of what version of Windows Vista is installed on your computer, you can easily find out. Simply click Start, type winver.exe in the Search field and press Enter. The About Windows dialog box will appear displaying the version of Windows Vista that is installed along with whom it is registered to and the amount of available physical memory.

Many computers come with Windows Vista preinstalled, which is referred to as OEM installations. You can easily find out of you are using an OEM installation of Windows Vista by completing the following steps:

  1. Click Start and click Control Panel. Switch to Classic view.

  2. Double click the System applet.
  3. You can use the number listed under the Windows activation section to determine if it is an OEM installation. An OEM installation will have ‘OEM’ contained within the Product ID number.
