Hyphenation prevents a word from breaking if it falls at the end of a line. Word supports both automatic and manual hyphenation. With automatic hyphenation, Word inserts hyphens where required and updates them when changes are made to the document.
To hyphenate an entire document in Word 2002:
- From the Tools menu, point to language and click Hyphenation.
- Select the Automatically hyphenate document option.
- Click OK.
Alternatively, you can also automatically hyphenate selected text instead of an entire document. To do so, select the text you want to hyphenate and repeat the steps described above.
