Michael,

Which Vista Rant video are you specifically talking about? Chris does have a few of them. :)

I agree with a lot of what you said. My main problem is when consultants bring Vista laptops and expect it to work flawlessly in a business, Microsoft domain environment.

The main issue I have with Vista is that some existing software (and not old software, only 2 years old) doesn't work properly. We have to change the interface to Aero Basic to increase battery life on laptops, and some software that works perfectly on XP (Numara Track-It) doesn't work at all.

I agree, that this is "A Windows World", but only until people get so frustrated with Windows that they actively look for alternatives.

Thanks for the article.

I am quite fed up with everybody complaining about how nobody else care about what they produce. As far as software goes, have any of you even tried to write code on a project larger than an 'Hello World' program. Writing code is monotonous and complicated. On a project as large as an operating system, such as windows, there are many many many writers who have to collaborate. No software is written without mistakes. A colon where a semi should be, comma for a period. Any small mistake will make something not work. Going though code to find small mistakes is even more monotonous and time consuming than writing it in the first place. Computers are stupid. They only know what you tell them. It is amazing at all that any software works as well as they do. If you think you can do better then Microsoft or for that matter any operating system producer, open source or not, do it so you can be the one who people complain about.

There's so many that's a monopoly these days. One is Comcast. But enough said on that.Ok here's the deal,I'am a geek. But a disabled geek on a fix income.Meaning when i get the chance i buy what's available and what i can afford.I run two XP machines and a Vista.I really dont have problems with them.I keeps them updated and secure.I think it depends on what a person want out of a computer.I did get confused in how many versions of Vista.I've never understood that one.And the big price tag.I purchase my HP with Vista preinstalled.I seen no need to buy a new computer with a out dated OS.Meaning i wanted to advance. One of these days i'll try the new 7.Which will be preinstalled also. And yep i'am a home user. And one of the ones that's had no problems.I feel if you in a business, use what works for you.But dont down the home users that has 3 or 4 computers networking and doing fine.We are true geeks and having fun.Take care.

Bravo! This might be the most thoughtful and best written analysis of Microsoft's monopoly that I have seen. I never bought Vista and I won't buy any Microsoft operating system until its performance matches its marketing hype.

I remember that stupid idea, pay for 98 beta. Dumb. OS/2 and the others worked and there are those who still use OS/2 and it's more recent incarnation but at the time Windows was prettier. Many are drawn in by glitz and were let down by the reality. Vista! Why is that even still on the store shelves?
