Change The AutoRecover Directory In Word

Posted by on Mar 9, 2009 | No Comments

As you are working on your document, Word automatically saves a temporary copy of it in the event that you run into computer problems. This is referred to as AutoRecover.

When Word saves an AutoRecover file, it is saved in the same directory as the original document. You can have Word save your AutoRecover files to a specific location. This requires you to modify the AutoRecover location as outlined below.

  1. Within Word, click Options from the Tools menu.

  2. Click the File Locations tab.
  3. From the list of file types, click the AutoRecover files option.
  4. Click on the Modify button.
  5. Browse to the folder in which you want the AutoRecover files stored.
  6. Click OK.
  7. Click on Close.
