An Easier Way To Delete Text In Word

There are a few different methods for deleting text in Word. One method is press the Delete key or the Backspace key to delete each character until all the unwanted text is gone. Alternatively, you can highlight the unwanted text and press the Delete key.

The problem with the first method is that you end up spending a lot of time pressing the keys to get rid of unwanted text. If you typically use this method, you may be interested to know that there is a much faster way of deleting text. All you need to do is hold down the Ctrl key as your press the Delete or Backspace key. In doing so, Word will delete an entire word at a time instead of individual characters.

This actually works anywhere in Windows, not just Word. Occasionally, you have the wierd 3rd party software that won’t let you.

You can also hold Ctrl while hitting the arrow keys to move from the first letter of one word to the first letter of another. Shift+Ctrl+Arrow let’s you highlight one word at a time.

I haven’t found the equivalent on a Mac – frustrating.

Diana, you are as beautiful as you are helpful. Thank you so much for all your articles!
