Manually Undo En And Em Dashes In Word
In a previous tip, I showed you how to prevent Word from automatically changing hyphens to en and em dashes. However, instead of disabling this feature, you can manually change en and em dashes back to hyphens on an as needed basis. You can do so using the AutoCorrect Options button as described below.
Find the en or em dash that you want to change back to a hyphen. Place the pointer near the dash until you see a small, blue rectangle. When you point to the rectangle, the AutoCorrect Options button appears. Click the button and select one the Undo Dash option. Word will automatically change the en or em dash back to hyphens.

What’s an ‘en’ or ‘em’ dash??? I’ve been using Word since Word 4 for DOS, and have never run into this term. A little explanation, please.
