Manually Hyphenate Text In Word 2007

Hyphenation prevents a word from breaking if it falls at the end of a line. Word supports both automatic and manual hyphenation. With manual hyphenation, Word searches your document for text to hyphenate and prompts you to confirm each proposed optional hyphen.

To manually hyphenate text in Word 2007:

  1. Within your document, select the text you want to hyphenate.
  2. On the Page Layout tab, within the Page Setup group, click Hyphenation.
  3. Click Manual.

Word will search the selected text to identify words or phrases to hyphenate and prompt you to confirm each one by clicking Yes.
