You can add page numbers to the top or bottom of your Word document. Each new page will automatically include a new page number. Inserting page numbers is relatively simple and once you get the hang of it, you can begin playing around with some of the different page numbering options.
To insert page numbers in Word 2003:
- On the View menu, click Header and Footer
- On the Header and Footer toolbar, click Insert Page Number to add basic page numbers. Alternatively, click Insert AutoText and then click Page X of Y.
- Click Close on the Header and Footer toolbar.

All I get is a black screen with blue and red letters that can not be read.
How can I fix this?
