Each page in Word is divided into an invisible grid. When you create an object, it is lined up against the nearest gridlines. By default, the squares in the grid are set to 0.13″ by 0.13″. You can adjust the increment of the squares, up to 0.01.
To change the spacing between drawing gridlines, you must first insert a shape in your document.
- Verify that the Drawing toolbar is displayed (View, Toolbars, Drawing).
- Click Draw on the Drawing toolbar and then click Grid.
- In the Horizontal Spacing and Vertical Spacing boxes, enter the spacing you want.
- Click OK.
