Just a little over a week ago, I launched my new community Web site, Geeks. This site is made by geeks, for geeks, to be about geeks. No, you don’t have to be a “computer geek” to become a member. Geeks come in all shapes and sizes, and are “geeky” about anything and everything. What qualifies you as a geek? Just be passionate about something. There are cooking geeks, motorcycle geeks, sports geeks, and of course, computer geeks.
As of the writing of this post, we have 3,481 members. There are 954 forum posts, and a countless number of blogs. There are just over 1,000 videos uploaded… and more than 7,000 photos! Yes, you read that right. The geeks have uploaded over seven thousand pictures! If you aren’t one of those, what’s stopping you?
Let’s take a look at some of the hottest things on Geeks recently:

Thanks for posting this! This is a really good idea, with all the social networking sites out there, many of which cast a much larger net and don’t offer this type of very specialized community. It looks like you are providing a wide variety of topics for discussion, from the oft-discussed and on-going “Women vs. Men in the Tech Industry” (a very good topic of discussion, since we’ve seen a huge surge in the number of women involved in tech in relatively recent years) to important platform and tech-geek-type subjects. I’ll be interested to see what topics this forum generates. It seems like it could be a great place to share ideas and learn a little something about what’s going on in different geek arenas! I know as someone that works in computer consulting, many in this field are looking for places to congregate to improve their networking and also learn a little something about what’s going on in their industry, and this could provide a very unique online community.
