Line Up Numbers In Your Numbered Lists In Word 2003

If you have worked with numbered lists in Word, you may have noticed that once you have more than nine items in a list, the numbers do not line up properly. Normally we would line numbers up based on the decimal place. This is not the case with numbered lists in Word though.

If you do not like the way that Word lines up numbered lists by default, you can change it by following the steps listed below:

  1. Select all of the items in the numbered list.
  2. Choose Bullets and Numbering from the Format menu. Word displays the Bullets and Numbering dialog box with the Numbered tab selected.
  3. Click the Customize button. Word displays the Customize Numbered List dialog box.
  4. Click the drop down arrow under Number Position and click the Right option.
  5. Click OK.
