Copy Excel Column Widths Along With Column Data

When you copy data between two different spreadsheets, the column widths are not copied. Unless you use the Paste Special command, this can become a real chore when you invest your time in resizing column widths for your data only to have to do it all over when the data is copied into another spreadsheet.

To copy column width in Excel 2007:

  1. Select a cell in the column.
  2. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click Copy, and then select the target column.
  3. On the Home tab, in the Clipboard group, click the arrow below Paste, and then click Paste Special.
  4. Under Paste, select Column widths.
