Chris!
I’ve been a very happy user of Yahoo!’s “My.Yahoo.com” service since it was in its initial beta many years ago. The last couple of revisions have been pushing more dynamic Ajax layouts and requiring more screen real estate. So after giving each new version an honest try, and providing thoughtful feedback, I’ve opted to go back to the “Classic My Yahoo!” Much to my disappointment, the new version that rolled out today (or maybe it was yesterday) doesn’t offer any “Classic My Yahoo!” option. I’ve filled out its feedback form telling just how much I dislike the new version and why and asking Yahoo! to contact me.
In the event I don’t get Yahoo! to restore access to the classic interface, what are some other news readers that present in a “newspaper” metaphor rather then an “e-mail” or “tree” metaphor? Preferably ones that support some degree of rich content — not just headlines.
Thanks!

yahoo too complex, too busy, too everything? the answer is easy… start using ”myway.com”. it is everything yahoo used to be.

I agree with you the new version sucks. While I’m not blind by any means my vision isn’t the greatest and I can’t read the page without paging back an forth at my current screen resolution.
I know that I can make the font bigger with my browser, and I do that, but the larger the font I force on the page the more pages just don’t display properly, Yahoo included.
I too griped in feedback about the things that I don’t like but never got any reply.

I use the old yahoo e-mail because it loads fast.
My start or home page is plain old google.
Loads fast and I can go anywhere from there.

Dont even bother with excite, with the slow loading, slow rendering, and 640×480 squished look on 1024×768 screens, they look to be trying to get rid of people. My 3 less technical family members who’ve had excite addresses since before google existed, are changing to gmail.

Tom - I’m in the same boat as you are. Yahoo is more interested in cramming ads & other flashing distractions at us than accommodating our preferences and needs. This latest, mandatory change is not for me - - I hope we / somebody can come up with a good alternative that gives us the great FUNCTIONALITY that Yahoo HAS LOST.
It’s been a great decade, Yahoo…but if you’re listening (which you probably are not) I’m ready to say goodbye!

You might want to check out igoggle, or pageflakes. They are both better than myyahoo anyway, imho.
