Disable Automatic Bulleted Lists In Word 2007

Microsoft Word is designed to make it very simple for us to create a word document. It even corrects some of our spelling and grammar mistakes as we are typing along. For example, if you have ever typed in a URL or someone’s email address, you have more than likely seen Word take over and turn it into a hot hyperlink.
In Word 2007, you can use the asterisk (*) character to automatically create a bulleted list. When you type in the asterisk character, Word recognizes that you want to create a bulleted list.
If you do not like this feature, you can easily disable it using the steps below.
- Click the Microsoft Office Button.
- Click Word Options then Proofing.
- Click AutoCorrect Options.
- Select the AutoFormat as You Type tab.
- Clear the check box beside the Automatic bulleted lists option.

Thank you Diana!
This is something that has bothered me for years, though it only rarely reared it’s ugly head, so I just dealt with it.
On Mac OSX (at least the version I use from a few years ago), I found the option under Tools>AutoCorrect , and under the AutoFormat As You Type section, I then unchecked the Automatic bulleted lists and Automatic numbered lists. I am much happier now!
All the best,
Andrew
