Hide Drive Letters From The Send To Menu In Vista

Here is another tip you can use to customize the Send To menu in Vista. When you open the context menu for an object such as a folder or file, you will see the Send To option. By pointing to Send To, a list of options will appear, including drive letters. If you do not want the drive letters to appear, you can hide them from the Send To menu without hiding them in Windows Explorer.

To hide drive letter from the Send To menu in Vista:

  1. Click Start, type regedit.exe and press Enter.
  2. Navigate to the following location:
    HKEY_CURRENT_USER \ Software \ Microsoft \ Windows \ CurrentVersion \ Policies \ Explorer
  3. Create a new DWORD (32-bit) value named NoDrivesInSendToMenu.
  4. Double-click NoDrivesInSendToMenu and set the value data to 1.
  5. Exit Registry Editor.

The drive letters will no longer appear on the Send To menu.
