Google Android And Casual Games

Hey Chris,

In one of your latest videos you briefly discussed Google Android — well, there is also a completely open development platform along with a smartphone called Neo FreeRunner to be released hopefully by the end of this year. That’s basically the smartphone I’m looking forward to buying as I’m tired of the limited proprietary synchronisation solutions that work only with mainstream proprietary PIMs and badly designed PDA functions.

You can learn more about it here and here.

Also, I found these casual games fun and easy to learn — and I think you might enjoy them as well.

  1. There’s Frets on Fire, a free and Open Source Windows/Linux/Mac clone of Guitar Hero where you actually hold and use your keyboard as a guitar, which is an interesting experience. And it looks formidable, as can be seen on YouTube :)

  2. Neverball is another cool free and Open Source game for Windows/Mac/Linux where you have to get a ball through an obstacle course while collecting coins, but the thing is that rather than moving the ball itself, you tilt the level with your mouse.

What Do You Think?
