For increased security, you can configure your computer with an account lockout policy. This means that after a certain number of failed logon attempts, the user account will be unlocked. You can configure this option by opening the security settings on the local computer.
Open the local computer policy, expand Account Policies, and click Account Lockout Policy. In the details pane, double click Account lockout threshold. Specify the number of failed logon attempts that will be permitted before the account is locked out. Click OK. The Suggested Value Changes dialog box will appear. Click OK to accept the default settings.
