Flashlight Geeks: What Color Do You Like?

A friend and I were discussing colors of flashlights. (Yes, I do get into some odd discussions.) He has a shop, and is thinking about stocking a new model that comes in a variety of colors. However, the minimum order of each is pretty high, and he doesn’t want to stock large quantities of odd shades that will stay in stock forever.
These are very small, high-quality — but relatively inexpensive — lights, the sort you might put on a keychain, or drop in a pocket, purse or waist pack; little work lights for those moments when you need a flashlight but don’t need to illuminate a parking lot. You might use one for little chores when camping, while holding it in your mouth or clipped to your hat.
We agreed, naturally, on basic black and olive drab. What do you think about other primary colors? How likely would you be to purchase a color different from black or o.d.? Tell me why.

My current favorite is a silver carabineer shaped LED flashlight with that clips on to my cell phone case. This metal clip with a blue light is very good for the quick bit of light. My workhorse flashlight is a little black Coleman that I bought from a thrift store for 50 cents. Both continue to work after having been dropped and stepped on multiple times. Bright Colors help me find other flashlights in the tool bags and drawers, but they just are not as rugged. A rugged flashlight with a Nickel Silver case is one that I will buy or a gold tint anodized.

I like to choose from a variety of colors, but my fave is purple. We use a lot of small flashlights in my household, and different colors help us keep them organized.

Hello,
Flashlights that I have purchased tend to be black, unpainted metal or yellow/orange. The latter would typically be to simplify location of the flashlight.

I’m a flashlight collector as well, with more than 12 for a household of two! Basic black is a natural, but for the tiny ones, consider the ease of finding a bright-coloured one in the dark - of course, that’s when you need it the most
Primary colours such as blue, red and perhaps yellow?

Most men might be satisfied with black or camo, but seems those would be hard to find at the bottom of my wife’s purse. Believe me, anything could get lost in there! Might want to stock Red & Gold colors too.

IMHO, If you in a hurry, looking for a flashlight….especially if your ambient lighting is not good, you’re going to find the bright colors easier….bright yellow is a good one. Red is okay. Black and OD are great if you tend to have dirty/greasy hands when you grab for it (automechanics?).

Red is easy to find in the bottom of a backpack or crowded drawer.
Also, if youhave kids, each with their own flashlights for camping, each having a different color for their personal flashlight is nice, so I would add blue and……

If the flashlight is small and it resides in the bottom of your handbag it would help a great deal to have it in a light bright color so you can find it. Maybe, yellow or metallic pink?

My personal favorite flashlight is a Pelican 3-C-Cell in yellow (it is the original Seal light, which was probably black). I like yellow because I can find it easier in the dark. I also like black and olive drab. Depending on the projected customer, they might like red or blue. I have no idea what colors sell - you mIght ask the mfr what colors other sellers order from them.

I’m thinking a bright colour -yellow maybe- for a keyring. This way it has a use - visibility for finding keys - when not actually being used as a torch.

Black & o.d. are nice but are sometimes hard to see in pocket, laptop case, or purse. How about lemon yellow , royal blue and red for other colors.

Red. Almost all of my flashlights are red. It is easy to spot.

Whenever I look at these small flashlights, I generally look for a bright color such as red or yellow. I don’t much care what color the device is, but these colors should be easier to spot whenever I’m searching for the flashlight in a bag or a drawer or anywhere else. This is just my preference of course - colors such as black or olive drab might be more popular.

purple and pink are top colors for use with women’s handbags. white goes with everything. yellow will be visible in the bottom of a bag.

It would depend upon the use to which it will be put. I wouldn’t much want a lime green one sitting under my desk as an emergency light source but a camo one for camping would be a real pain. A small silver one on the key ring would be OK but black would be fine as well. Really would need more information or a picture to be of any real help. C

I own lots of colors of mag lights just because it lets me remember where each one goes.
The red is in the garage, the blue goes in my truck, black near my bed, silver in my wifes SUV, etc.
It keeps me from misplacing them, or leaving a location without one.
