Back in the day, I used to happily beta test software for a variety of developers. In order to be a truly effective beta tester, you have to be committed to the cause of fully testing software and finding and documenting problems so that they can be fixed by the development team. It definitely takes a certain type of person who has a lot of patience to be involved in this process, and although I used to enjoy testing software for developers, I just don’t have the time to do it anymore. QA work is much different than just casually trying software, but uTest can make it worth your time.
Software vendors need people to test their software and find bugs, and since there are people out there that enjoy this type of thing, uTest aims to connect the vendors with the testers. Anyone from a trained testing professional to a common consumer can join uTest, and the companies can invite testers that they like to be a part of the process. The good news for the testers is that they are paid for the bugs that they find, so if you’re good at what you do, then you can actually make a decent amount of money.
