Occasionally I’ll look back on the Web site reviews that I’ve written here at Lockergnome to see if I’ve missed writing about an important Web site. Whenever I take the time to review what I’ve covered, I always find a couple of sites that I personally love that have somehow slipped through the cracks. It’s funny how when you use something so much you can almost forget about mentioning it, but that’s exactly what happens to me sometimes. For example, I recently discovered that I haven’t featured one of the biggest and most obvious influencers that helped to spearhead the Web 2.0 movement. Which Web site am I talking about? None other than Digg, of course.

It may seem crazy, but there are still plenty of people that aren’t familiar with Digg, and if you haven’t been on the Internet for the past few years, you should know that Digg is a social news Web site where the community is in charge of submitting news stories, images, videos, and podcasts while promoting the ones that they think are important and interesting to the front page. Although I’m not an active participant, I use Digg to follow the top stories as decided by the community on a daily basis. Kevin Rose knew what he was doing when he came up with the idea for Digg, and the continual success of the company has proved that point.
