    I have been booking with priceline for years. Here is the way that I recommend. First go to hotwire.com and see what they offer. Remember that hotwire uses a 5 star rating system compared to priceline’s 4 star ratings. Therefore a 2 1/2 star hotel on priceline may well be a 3 on hotwire. Use this 3 or 4 star hotel offer price and cut it by 20% to get your opening bid with priceline. You can always modify your bid on the second round of bidding on priceline.
    You have a backup with hotwire. In 2007 I used priceline to stay at over 20 hotels and have had no problems. This past week I stayed at a 4 star Hilton for a bid of $62 in Houston. Remember that if you may have to pay an additional fee for parking.
