Prevent Sound When New Message Arrives In Windows Mail
Different email clients have different ways of notifying you when a new message arrives. Some programs may display an icon in the notification tray while others may display a box on your desktop.
Windows Mail, the email client included with Windows Vista, uses sound to notify you when a new message has arrived. This is the default behavior in Windows Mail; however, you can turn off sound notification for new messages using the steps described below.
- Click Start, All Programs and click Windows Mail.
- From the Tools menu, click Options.
- Click the General tab.
- Clear the Play sound when new messages arrive option.
